36 Apprehended in Major Capital Crackdown; Significant Cache of Drugs and Weapons Seized

The Capital Police on Friday claimed to have seized a substantial quantity of narcotics, including over 3.5 kilogrammes of heroin and more than a kilogramme of ice, alongside a cache of illegal firearms during a comprehensive security operation across the federal capital that resulted in the arrest of 36 individuals.

The operation, part of an ongoing city-wide crackdown, saw police teams from 14 different precincts, including Women, Shalimar, Golra, and Koral police stations, apprehend 28 accused persons. The contraband recovered from their possession includes 1,780 grammes of hashish, 3,535 grammes of heroin, 1,008 grammes of ice, 11 pistols, and one rifle with ammunition.

Separately, a dedicated campaign targeting fugitives led to the capture of eight wanted criminals, who were identified as proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

Formal cases have been registered against all arrested individuals, and further investigations are currently in progress, according to an official statement.

The extensive security sweep was initiated following special directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a continued effort to combat criminal elements and enhance the security of citizens” lives and property.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, stated that the police force is fully committed to ensuring the safety of residents. He affirmed that protecting the public remains the foremost priority and that no one would be permitted to disrupt the peace of the city.

The senior officer also urged citizens to contribute to a crime-free environment by promptly reporting any suspicious activity to their local police station or the emergency helpline ‘Pucar-15’, highlighting the importance of mutual cooperation between the public and law enforcement.
