50kg heroin seized at Khyber post

PESHAWAR: Authorities on Saturday claimed to have seized a huge quantity of heroin worth millions from the secret pockets of a truck coming from Afghanistan in Khyber district.

According to police officials, on a tip-off the truck was searched after it crossed the border at Maichni check post following which about 59 kilograms of heroin hidden secretly in the vehicle were recovered. The police took the driver into custody.

Police Sub-Inspector Qamar Abbas said 49.8kg heroin was seized from the truck. The seized contraband was worth millions in international market, the officer added.
