6 arrested in human smuggling racket worth millions of rupees from Gujranwala

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Sunday arrested six individuals in a major crackdown against a gang involved in human smuggling operating in the Gujranwala zone. The suspects are accused of extorting over Rs 7.2 million from citizens through fake visa and immigration schemes.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Muhammad Waqar, Shakeel Ahmed, Muhammad Akhtar, Mir Muhammad Ilyas, Akhtar, and Sarfraz Ali.

According to the agency, the suspects were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in migrant smuggling and visa fraud. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to dismantle networks involved in illegal human trafficking.

The investigation revealed that the gang had extorted a total of Rs 7,260,000 from the complainants by making false promises related to overseas travel and documentation.
