64 Individuals Taken into Custody During Major Security Sweep in the Capital

Islamabad police on Wednesday reported to have taken 64 suspicious individuals into custody for legal proceedings following extensive search and combing operations across the federal capital, according to a statement from the Islamabad Capital Police.

The large-scale security initiative, conducted in the jurisdictions of multiple police stations, involved the thorough inspection of 767 individuals, 333 residences, 149 shops, and 32 hotels.

Law enforcement personnel also examined 241 motorcycles and 80 other vehicles, resulting in 36 motorcycles being impounded and moved to police stations for further investigation.

These measures were undertaken following special directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, as part of a broader effort to curb criminal activities and enhance public safety. The operations were carried out under the supervision of zonal SPs.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, emphasised that the primary objective is to tighten the security cordon around criminal elements and reinforce the city”s overall security framework.

He affirmed that the Islamabad Police will continue to take indiscriminate action against criminals, land grabbers, and drug traffickers.

The SSP also appealed to citizens for their cooperation, urging them to report any suspicious activity immediately to the nearest police station or through the emergency helpline ‘Pucar-15’.
