78 more corona patients die in Pakistan; 2,429 new virus cases surface: Report

Karachi: As many as 2,429 new coronavirus cases during the last 24 hours surfaced in Pakistan by 08:08 am on Saturday while 78 more patients died of the virus disease during the same period. The country-wide death toll from the virus has surged to 1,395 so far since the outbreak of the disease in February.

According to the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation, and Coordination’s data, a total of 66,457 people have been tested positive for the coronavirus disease in the country since its outbreak in February 2020, out of which 26,113 were in Sindh, 24,104 in Punjab, 4,087in Balochistan, 9,067 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,192 in Islamabad, 660 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 234 in Azad Kashmir. However, 24,131 patients have recovered from the disease so far.

There is a continuous rise in virus disease cases in the country. It is feared that cases may rise to an alarming level in June as lockdown has been eased.
