7th Board meeting of Sindh Food Authority held

KARACHI: The 7th Board meeting of Sindh Food Authority was held under the chairmanship of Provincial Minister for Food and Chairman Sindh Food Authority Hari Ram Kishori Lal who said that practical steps were being taken to promote food safety culture in the province.

The provincial minister directed to form a Grievance Redressal Committee (GRC) headed by Secretary Food to expedite the redressal of grievances against the Sindh Food Authority and directed that the process of issuance of licenses should be simplified.

He directed to ensure issuance of license to those who fulfill the requirements. He said that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated at all. Lal said that the rules and regulations of Sindh Food Authority should be compiled as soon as possible.

Lal further said that in the light of orders of Sindh government, provision of minimum wages should be ensured in all cases. On the occasion, Director General Sindh Food Authority presented budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022 amounting to Rs632.1 million which was unanimously approved by the Board. Giving a briefing, the DG said that Sindh Food Authority had collected revenue of about Rs188 million till June 30, 2021.

He further informed the Board members that the details of the amount collected as license fees were available on the website of the department. It was decided in the meeting that the details of the fine would be submitted to the Chairman Sindh Food Authority and Secretary Food on monthly basis. The meeting also decided to issue a warning notice before imposing fines.

The meeting further decided to bring the license fee at par with other provinces, which would be applicable from July 1, 2021. It was decided in the meeting that the recruitment of food safety officers would be carried out after final approval of the recruitment committee on merit. Directors of Sindh Food Authority and other members of the board also attended the occasion.
