Ratodero: The growers of Banguldero and surrounding villages staged a large sit-in, blocked Indus Highway and held a protest demonstration near here on Monday causing hardships for the travelers as long rows of vehicles were stuck up from both sides demanding irrigation water as their agricultural lands were drying.
Protesters Muhammad Farooq, Haji Allah Warayo Soomro, Nazir Bhutto, Malook, Muharram Shaikh and others complained that irrigation water in Warah Canal has been closed for unknown reasons due to which their paddy seedlings are about to burn.
They said when water has been released into Khirthar Canal, Rice Canal and Dadu Canal then why Warah Canal has been closed. They said stagnant rainwater has already ruined their lands and the standing crops but those lands from where water has been drained out should be saved and the crops they have sown are now drying due to scarcity of water.
They demanded release of water into the Waran Canal to save their rice crop or else they warned, they will again block the road.
