QUETTA:Abdul Aziz Uqaili, Chief Secretary Balochistan, said Sunday that all resources were being mobilized to contain the outbreak of cholera epidemic in district Dera Bughti of Balochistan province.
Chairing a high-level meeting here in connection with the outbreak of cholera in Pir Koh and Zain Koh areas of Dera Bughti, he said that additional doctors, health workers and necessary medicines had already been dispatched to the affected areas. The chief secretary said that specialist doctors of different departments were busy providing healthcare facilities to the cholera affected people. Uqaili said that steps were being taken on war footing basis to provide pure drinking water to the dwellers of affected areas as scarcity of pure drinking water caused the outbreak of cholera in the affected areas.
He directed Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department to get the water supply schemes in Pir Koh and Zain Koh areas of Dera Bughti completed within a period of four months. Directions on the occasion were also issued to Saleh Muhammad Nasar, Secretary, Health Department, Government of Balochistan to monitor healthcare facilities being provided to the affected people of Pir Koh and Zain Koh.
