Two more Customs officials shot dead in Dera Ismael Khan attack

Dera Ismael Khan: An inspector and a constable of Pakistan Customs were killed when some unidentified persons opened fire at Yark Toll Plaza in Dera Ismael Khan late Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

Police said two Customs officials were killed and three injured when terrorists opened fire on them at a toll plaza. The dead bodies and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) hospital.

Police and personnel of other law-enforcement agencies scrambled to the crime scene and cordoned off the area. Police said the terrorists escaped before the arrival of law enforcers. A manhunt was launched for the arrest of the suspects.

A few days ago, four Customs officials were killed in a firing incident in Dera Ismail Khan. The incident has sent a wave of shock among the officials as this is the second such incident in the last few days.

Strongly condemning the incident of firing on the Customs officials in Dera Ismail Khan, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that such cowardly acts could not shake the resolve of the government to fight against terrorism and smuggling till their complete elimination.

The prime minister prayed for the salvation of departed souls and for the bereaved families to bear the losses with fortitude, the PM Office’s Media Wing said in a press release.
