QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bughti on Wednesday said that the completion of Mangi Dam would overcome the deficiency of water in Quetta.
This he said while chairing a high level meeting at Chief Minister’s Secretariat to review the progress of Mangi Dam project for overcoming the water deficiency in Quetta. Expressing indignation over the delay regarding construction of Mangi Dam project, he directed the authorities concerned to get the said project completed immediately.
He also issued directives to the authorities of Home and Tribal Affairs Department to ensure providing security to Mangi Dam project on need basis. Domki said that solarisation would reduce dependence on electricity. In the meeting, a committee under the chairmanship of Secretary, Public Health Engineering Department, Wali Kakar was constituted with the task of submitting recommendations regarding solarisation.
Giving briefing to the participants of the meeting, it was informed that Quetta faced shortfall of 24 lac gallons of water. It was also informed that the services of Frontier Corps Balochistan have been hired for the security of Mangi Dam.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Public Health, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran, Minister Finance, Mir Shoaib Ahmed Nosherwani, Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan and others.
