The 17th death anniversary of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed was observed across the country today with respect.
The main ceremony in connection with anniversary was held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh Bhutto in Larkana this evening, high level security arrangements were made.
A large number of PPP workers and party leaders from across the country attended the ceremony.
Addressing the participants, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said the great sacrifice rendered by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto for democracy and country will always be remembered.
He said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto was the voice of all four provinces, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. He said that all the stakeholders will have to jointly resolve the problems faced by the country.
In his address to the gathering, President Asif Ali Zardari said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto is an ideology and will remain alive in the hearts of people. He said that Pakistan People’s Party always comes to power with people’s votes and believes in power of people.
In Islamabad, the Benazir Income Support Programme organized a Quran recitation event in Islamabad today to pay tribute to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto on her 17th martyrdom anniversary.
On the special instructions of Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid, Quran and Fateha recitation ceremonies were also held in all BISP offices across the country.
Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto conceived the idea of the Benazir Income Support Programme during her exile in Dubai. This visionary concept was realized in 2008 by the then-President Asif Ali Zardari.
At the conclusion of the Quran recitation, special prayers were offered for the eternal peace of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, her elevated ranks in the hereafter, the continuation of her mission to serve humanity, and the prosperity of Pakistan and progress of BISP.
In his message on the 17th anniversary of her martyrdom, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has praised Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed as a champion of democracy and a fervent advocate for dialogue and reconciliation in the political process.
The Prime Minister underscored Benazir Bhutto’s enduring legacy as an icon of courage and resilience. He noted that the Charter of Democracy, signed between Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif, stands as a testament to her profound political maturity and understanding.
From Thatta, PPP Senator Sassui Palijo said on Friday that Shaheed Benazir Bhutto’s democracy vision would continue to inspire future generations.
