The Director General of the Sindh Food Authority, Abdul Jabbar Khan, emphasized that the provision of safe and internationally standard-compliant food to the people of the province is his top priority.
During his speech at the 16th Consumers Food Safety and Quality Conference, Abdul Jabbar Khan stated that winning consumer trust is the real success. He disclosed that samples of loose tea leaves and open oil from various markets in Karachi have been sent to the laboratory for testing. Actions will be taken for fines, penalties, and sealing of businesses in case of legal violations.
Discussions will be held with the Chief Minister of Sindh regarding the establishment of the Sindh Food Authority Force and the uniforms for the officers working in the field. Abdul Jabbar Khan mentioned efforts to strengthen the institution in line with the vision of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Chief Minister of Sindh.
He informed that approximately 13,000 hotels, restaurants, and shops in Sindh are licensed, and soon all of them will be registered and provided with licenses. He congratulated the Consumers Association of Pakistan for organizing this successful conference.
Abdul Jabbar Khan declared the implementation of modern and safe food safety practices as a fundamental pillar of public health, the economy, and social welfare. He hopes that this conference will serve as a precursor to positive changes concerning food safety.
