Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon on Thursday condemned India’s decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, terming it an act of open hostility and a grave threat to regional stability.
In an official statement, Memon said that India’s suspension of the treaty is a serious breach of international law and appears to be a calculated effort to derail peace initiatives in South Asia. He described the move as highly provocative and irresponsible.
Memon pointed to India’s history of false flag operations, claiming such actions were previously carried out to manipulate global narratives. He stated that during President Clinton’s visit to India, the Indian government orchestrated a false flag operation, resulting in the bloodshed of innocent Sikhs. Now the same tactic is being repeated in Pahalgam.
He reiterated Pakistan’s long-standing role as a committed partner in the global campaign against terrorism. ‘Our country has paid a heavy price. From the Army Public School massacre to the martyrdom of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, we have made immense sacrifices,’ he stated.
According to Memon, the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty goes beyond a bilateral dispute. ‘It signals a dangerous shift in regional dynamics under the pretense of power assertion. Such provocation will never be acceptable to Pakistan,’ he said.
He said that India’s decision had revealed a collapse of ethical responsibility and was a direct affront to the global community. Calling for international intervention, Memon urged global powers, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take immediate notice of what he described as a deliberate and alarming violation of international norms.
