Sukkur Division Government Employees’ Holidays Cancelled from 1st to 13th Muharram

Security arrangements have been further tightened in Sukkur Division during Muharram. A meeting chaired by Commissioner Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi was held, in which important decisions were taken. It was informed that no new processions will be allowed and emergency services will remain on high alert. Government employees’ holidays have been cancelled from 1st to 13th Muharram.

Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Dr. MB Raja Dharejo and Deputy Commissioner Khairpur Mir Fayyaz Hussain Rahoojo also presented reports regarding security measures, sanitation facilities, road repairs, traffic management, and medical arrangements in their respective jurisdictions. Representatives of law enforcement agencies, district administrations, religious leaders, and utility-providing agencies participated and finalized arrangements for the religious observance.

Fayyaz Hussain Abbasi lauded the role of Ulema and peace committees in holding a peaceful Muharram last year and emphasized the need for continued cooperation in view of the current security situation. He warned against any attempt to disrupt peace and order and stressed the importance of national stability. He confirmed that meetings are ongoing at the district level to refine security plans based on input received from community leaders and stakeholders.

DIG Police Sukkur Faisal Abdullah Chachar also expressed these concerns and emphasized the need for vigilance in view of the national and international situation. He reiterated the police’s commitment to maintaining peace during Muharram and appealed to religious leaders to promote tolerance among their followers.

SEPCO CEO Ijaz Channa assured participants of uninterrupted power supply during Muharram processions and gatherings, while backup generators and transformers have also been put on standby.

The district administrations of Sukkur, Khairpur Mir, and Ghotki provided details about their respective preparations. Deputy Commissioner Ghotki Dr. Syed Muhammad Ali Shah shared details of agreements with religious leaders regarding street lighting, sanitation, and implementation of the code of conduct.
