The UNESCO Entrepreneurship Education Network (EE-Net) Pakistan Chapter, hosted by the Institute of Business Management (IoBM), conducted its fourth international webinar focusing on ‘Design Thinking and Assessment’.
The online session, co-moderated by Raza Abbas of the UNESCO EE-Net Pakistan Chapter and Ms Saima Abbas from the National Curriculum Council (NCC), featured prominent international experts. Professor Sheila Dingcong, Executive Director for External Affairs of Thames International School and Vice-Chair of the UNESCO EE-Net Philippines Chapter, emphasized the significance of evaluation in entrepreneurial learning.
She highlighted how effective evaluations gauge knowledge, skill development, and behavioral shifts in learners. Dingcong shared Thames International”s innovative educational approaches using the Design Thinking model, which include a unique learning model canvas, project expos replacing final exams, off-campus experiential learning, personalized learning methods, and integrating sustainable development education into the curriculum.
Professor Shirley Yeung, a long-time member of the UNESCO EE Network working group, detailed the five steps of applying Design Thinking – empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and validation – within a green entrepreneurial education project. This initiative incorporates upcycled Chinese painting apparel products and utilizes various platforms to showcase initial impacts, including collaborations with institutions like UNSURYA University, IPMI Jakarta, and Hanson Robotics.
