Finance Minister Meets Chief Justice To Discuss Judicial Reforms And Tax Dispute Resolution

Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, the Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, met with Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi, at the Supreme Court on Tuesday to discuss judicial reforms and tax dispute resolution.

The Chief Justice highlighted the Supreme Court’s initiatives to improve access to justice, modernize court procedures, categorize tax cases, and enhance service delivery through technology.

Justice Afridi emphasized the need for government backing to ensure the success of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) system for resolving tax disputes quickly.

He also informed the Minister about training sessions being conducted for judicial officers and members of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) at the Judicial Academy, with plans to include officials from the Competition Commission of Pakistan soon.

Aurangzeb expressed appreciation for the judiciary’s reform program and pledged the government’s continued support in providing necessary resources for judicial development initiatives.

Both officials stressed the significance of collaboration between the judicial and executive branches to uphold the rule of law and protect citizens’ rights.
