Former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan, visited renowned surgeon Dr. Bashir-ur-Rehman Kanth at his residence in Muzaffarabad and prayed for his speedy recovery after a recent stroke. Sardar Masood Khan commended Dr. Kanth’s long medical career and his services to the region’s healthcare system.
Sardar Masood Khan mentioned Dr. Kanth’s numerous leadership roles, including modernizing Abbas Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) as its Executive Director, shaping healthcare strategies as Surgeon General of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and establishing the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The former president described Dr. Kanth’s surgical skills as an exceptional talent that benefited countless individuals.
Even after official retirement, Dr. Kanth continued contributing to the medical field by heading the Department of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Kashmir, guiding its academic and financial expansion. Sardar Masood Khan expressed confidence in Dr. Kanth’s recovery, citing public prayers. He described Dr. Kanth as a distinguished medical professional and principled leader whose integrity and compassion inspired colleagues.
