Supreme Court Celebrates 78th Independence Day With Flag Hoisting, Gifts For Children

The Supreme Court of Pakistan marked the nation’s 78th Independence Day with a flag-hoisting ceremony on Thursday, highlighted by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi’s interaction with children from SOS Villages.

Justice Afridi raised the national flag alongside fellow justices, court officials, and personnel. The event began with Quranic recitation and the national anthem. The Chief Justice then shared the celebration with children from SOS Villages in Peshawar and Islamabad, distributing presents and emphasizing inclusivity and compassion.

In his address, Justice Afridi termed Independence Day a “solemn reminder” of the founders’ vision and sacrifices. He stressed that independence is an ongoing duty, not just a historical occasion, and highlighted the Constitution as the embodiment of the people’s hopes. He urged all institutions, especially the judiciary, to maintain these principles with integrity and courage.

Justice Afridi reiterated the judicial branch’s dedication to democratic principles, fundamental rights protection, and impartial justice. He urged continued efforts to strengthen democratic governance, safeguard the vulnerable, and ensure equality before the law. He concluded by calling for national unity and a commitment to building a just and prosperous Pakistan. The ceremony underscored the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the Constitution and advancing justice for national development.
