Imran Khan, Bushra Bibi’s Sentence Suspension Pleas Adjourned In £190m Case

Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday postponed the hearing for the suspension of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi’s sentences in the £190 million corruption case until October 16. The delay was caused by the absence of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) special prosecutor.

NAB prosecutor Rafiq Maqsood informed the court that the bureau’s designated prosecutor was indisposed. Barrister Salman Safdar, the petitioners’ advocate, accused the bureau of employing delaying strategies, stating they consistently invent pretexts for postponements. He highlighted the contrast between their conduct and his own, emphasizing his time spent reviewing case files.

The IHC Chief Justice requested time before setting a new date and eventually deferred the proceedings until October 16. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Imran Khan’s siblings attended the hearing.
