Authorities have apprehended several Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) activists and ordered the closure of hotels in Rawalpindi as part of a sweeping security clampdown ahead of the group’s planned ‘Labbaik Ya Aqsa Million March’ on October 10.

Official sources confirmed that law enforcement agencies conducted targeted operations across various police jurisdictions, taking a number of TLP members into custody and moving them to local police stations. These preemptive measures are part of a broader strategy to maintain public order in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

The Islamabad Capital Police have instructed all personnel to ensure complete attendance and directed senior officers to maintain a state of high alert. Additional security forces have been positioned at sensitive locations throughout the capital to prevent any potential disturbances.

In Rawalpindi, the district administration has taken proactive steps, focusing on the vicinity of Faizabad, a common site for demonstrations. Local magistrates ordered hotel owners near the area to vacate their premises by 7 a.m. Thursday and to keep them closed until October 12 as a precautionary step.

City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi, Syed Khalid Hamdani, issued a stern warning following a high-level meeting, stating that no one would be permitted to disrupt public order. ‘No individual will be allowed to block roads or interfere with traffic. Any attempt to incite violence under the guise of protest will be dealt with strictly,’ he affirmed.

The CPO emphasized that the routine life of citizens in the twin cities must not be hindered and that law enforcement would respond decisively to any acts of lawlessness. Security forces are also continuing to monitor crucial entry points into the capital, while intelligence services remain vigilant to avert any untoward incidents during the scheduled TLP gathering.
