Agricultural Exports – Governor Sindh Calls for Rice Export Target to Surpass $4 Billion

Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori today urged the nation’s rice exporters to aim for a target exceeding USD 4 billion this year, highlighting a pressing need for accelerated growth in the sector despite recent benefits to exporters.

While addressing the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan Awards Ceremony as the chief guest, Governor Tessori expressed that Pakistan’s rice quality has no parallel in the world. He remarked that although exporters have seen benefits, the level of growth in rice exports has not yet reached the required level for the current economic climate.

The event celebrated the contributions of prominent business personalities. Noteworthy recipients of gold medals included Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, Zubair Motiwala, and Rear Admiral (Retd.) Syed Moazzam Ayaz for their significant achievements.

Governor Tessori assured the business community of his complete backing in resolving their issues, emphasizing that Sindh is the only province where the Governor House remains open to the public 24 hours a day for assistance.

He further mentioned the successful continuation of various Governor’s Initiatives, such as ration distribution, immediate help through the ‘Umeed Ki Ghanti’ (Bell of Hope), and the provision of free IT courses for the public.
