Public Health – Sindh Official Personally Resolves Polio Vaccination Refusal Cases in Korangi

In a direct intervention to combat vaccine hesitancy, the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Human Rights, Rajvir Singh Sodha, today personally visited homes in Korangi district and successfully persuaded twelve families to vaccinate their children, addressing a critical challenge in the ongoing polio eradication campaign.

During a formal visit, Mr. Sodha and the Director of Human Rights Sindh, Agha Fakhur Hussain, were apprised by Korangi”s Deputy Commissioner, Masood Bhutto, on the immunization drive”s progress. The update covered overall vaccination statistics, the current status of polio cases, and the specific hurdles posed by refusal cases within the district.

Following the presentation, the high-level delegation, accompanied by local officials and field staff, toured various Union Councils where vaccination refusals had been documented. The team engaged directly with community members and families, seeking to understand their concerns and alleviate fears surrounding the polio drops.

Mr. Sodha took a hands-on approach by participating in the door-to-door outreach, a move that proved instrumental in turning the tide with several hesitant families and ensuring their children received the vital oral polio vaccine.

The Special Assistant commended the dedication of Deputy Commissioner Bhutto, his administrative team, and the frontline polio workers for their relentless service. He praised their commitment to the challenging task of eliminating the crippling disease from the province.

He stressed that the complete elimination of polio requires a unified and sustained endeavor from all segments of society, especially at the community level. Mr. Sodha reaffirmed that the Government of Sindh maintains its steadfast resolve to achieve a polio-free province through coordinated action, dedication, and compassion.
