We Are Servants of the People, Commandant Urges New Graduates

In a powerful address, Commandant Capital Police College Muhammad Atique Tahir today issued a stern reminder to graduating officers, emphasizing that police are public servants, not rulers, and that their primary duty is to the citizens they protect. This message was the cornerstone of a dignified passing out ceremony held for the 14th Intermediate and 23rd Lower Courses of the Islamabad Police.

The event, which took place at the Capital Police College, was attended by senior police officials alongside the graduating officers and personnel. Mr. Tahir, serving as the chief guest, officiated the proceedings.

During the ceremony, the Commandant distributed awards and certificates of appreciation to individuals who demonstrated exceptional performance throughout their training programs.

Addressing the graduates, Mr. Tahir congratulated them on successfully completing the departmental courses essential for their professional advancement. He commended the college staff for delivering excellent training within a short timeframe and reminded the personnel they were fortunate to have the opportunity to serve the public.

“Keep in mind that we are servants of the people, not the other way around,” he stressed. “Believe me, there is no greater peace than that found in serving others. Treat people with kindness; there’s no reason you won’t be respected in return.”

He urged the graduating class to sincerely pledge that they would make public service their motto, uphold the rule of law, and ensure justice is delivered to all without discrimination.

“Protecting the lives and property of citizens is our foremost duty,” he continued. “Respecting them and solving their problems should be our priorities. I am confident that the training you have received will now be applied practically in your duties.”

Mr. Tahir concluded by expressing his hope that the officers would carry on the tradition of dedication and bring pride to the police department by fulfilling their responsibilities professionally. He also affirmed that upgrading the Capital Police College and modernizing its training programs remain top priorities for the Islamabad Police.
