In a significant move to safeguard student health, the Abbottabad district administration has issued a sweeping directive mandating water quality testing for every school, following the inauguration of a new mobile water analysis facility.
The initiative is centered around a state-of-the-art mobile laboratory, a new asset for the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) designed to improve service delivery and guarantee access to potable water throughout the region.
During an inspection of the newly established regional facility, Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram was briefed by XEN PHED Syed Zahid Shah and his team. The presentation covered the laboratory’s advanced equipment, its procedural standards, and the methods used for sample analysis.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized that protecting students from waterborne contaminants is a primary concern. He explicitly instructed the District Education Officers for both male and female schools to submit water samples from all educational institutions for immediate testing. Mr. Akram reaffirmed that supplying safe, health-compliant water is a paramount objective for the local government.
In addition to the school-focused mandate, residents have been encouraged to utilize the new service. The public can arrange for their drinking water to be tested by contacting the Public Health Engineering Department, located at Mandian (Missile Chowk).
