June 2026 deadline set for major road improvement project in Punjab

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued strict directives against any potential delays in the newly initiated second phase of the Lahore Development Plan, setting a firm deadline of June 30 of the upcoming year for the completion of this extensive infrastructure project.

The necessary instructions were issued after a detailed briefing on Lahore Development Phase Two during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday.

The initiative, formally launched by the Chief Minister, aims to completely upgrade 6,284 streets across the city.

The project’s scope includes 5,798 streets managed by the Lahore Municipal Corporation and an additional 486 streets falling under the jurisdiction of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).

During a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, officials presented a phased monthly work plan to guide the construction and repair works throughout the city.

In her directives concerning the project, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasized that there would be “no compromise on quality” in the development works.

She stated that the goal is to make “every corner of Lahore… free from disrepair and dignified for the citizens.”

The Chief Minister further expressed a vision where, as a result of the extensive street upgrades, every neighborhood would become a “proud symbol to live in.”
