In light of the situation arising from the Nipa tragedy, Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has ordered the allocation of a new sum of one hundred thousand rupees monthly for each union committee, which will be used exclusively to rectify issues with manhole covers and streetlights.
The mayor confirmed today that this specific amount will start being disbursed to all union committees from December, aimed at facilitating an effective solution to these long-standing civic problems.
Mayor Wahab also highlighted the broader financial support for local bodies, stating that the Sindh government has recently increased the total monthly share for each union committee after the matter was presented to the leadership.
He clarified that the previous allocation per committee has been increased from five hundred thousand rupees to one million two hundred thousand rupees.
