Police Officer Mandates Stricter Scrutiny at city’s Security Checkpoints

In an effort to bolster security across the federal capital, a senior police official today directed law enforcement personnel to enhance the effectiveness of security checkpoints and conduct thorough checks on suspicious individuals and vehicles.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Investigations, Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt, conducted on-site inspections of various duty points, personally reviewing security protocols with officers on the ground.

While assessing the checking process, SSP Butt instructed the concerned officers to make the checkpoints more purposeful, emphasizing the primary goal of protecting citizens’ lives and property. He mandated that all personnel remain highly alert.

The SSP also stressed the importance of public relations, directing his staff to treat citizens with courtesy and respect to strengthen the bond of trust between the community and the police force. Any suspicious activity, he ordered, must be immediately reported to the relevant authorities.

These actions follow special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, and are part of a broader initiative by the Islamabad Police to implement foolproof security measures. The force has reiterated that safeguarding the public is its highest priority.

In a related appeal, law enforcement has asked for public cooperation, urging citizens to report any suspicious person or activity to the nearest police station or by calling the ‘Pucar-15’ helpline.
