An Additional Sessions Judge in Depalpur has sentenced a man named Azam to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment upon being found guilty in a narcotics case.
In addition to the lengthy imprisonment, the court has also imposed a heavy fine of Rs 200,000. The verdict states that in case of non-payment of this amount, the convict will have to serve an additional six months in prison.
The case dates back to 2024 when personnel from the Hujra Shah Muqeem police station arrested Azam. During the arrest, law enforcement officials recovered two packets of charas from his possession.
Following the court’s decision, District Police Officer (DPO) Okara Rashid Hidayat praised the concerned police force and lauded the successful performance of the prosecution’s legal team.
