Authorities in Hub, Balochistan Impose a Complete Ban on Unauthorized Water Drilling

In a decisive move to address the severe threat posed by the rapidly depleting water reserves in the region, the district administration has imposed a complete ban on all unauthorized groundwater extraction activities.

According to a public notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner on Monday, a complete ban has been placed on any kind of boring, tube well digging, installation, and operation for the purpose of extracting groundwater without prior permission.

This directive has been enforced under the “Balochistan Ground Water Rights Administration Ordinance, 1978,” and the step has been taken following instructions from the Provincial Water Board to protect vital water resources.

The issued notice clearly obligates all citizens, contractors, and public and private entities in the district to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or formal permission from the District Water Committee (DWC) before initiating any related activity.

Administration officials have emphasized that the illegal exploitation of groundwater has created a serious situation for water availability, making the strict enforcement of these regulations necessary in the public interest to preserve the district’s remaining water reserves.
