Authorities Confiscate Contraband Valued at Over Rs300 Million in Sustained Crackdown

In a significant blow to illicit trade networks, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has confiscated contraband goods with an estimated value of Rs317 million during a series of successful anti-smuggling operations.

The most substantial seizure, resulting from an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out in coordination with Quetta Police, involved 508 cartons of assorted branded cigarettes. The intercepted consignment, containing 25,400 sticks, has an assessed value of Rs200 million.

According to a Customs Department report issued on Sunday , the recovery was made following meticulous surveillance and examination, with officials adhering strictly to prescribed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

In separate initiatives, customs authorities also impounded a large quantity of smuggled mobile phones and 13 Non-Custom-Paid (NCP) vehicles. The combined assessed worth of these items is approximately Rs. 117 million.

All seized goods have been taken into official custody, and further legal proceedings are being initiated under the relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to curbing smuggling and illicit trade in its efforts to safeguard the national economy.
