16 Criminals, Including Six Wanted, Overpowered in Major Capital Crackdown; Drugs and Firearms Seized

Authorities in the federal capital on Monday claimed to have taken 16 accused into custody, including six wanted criminals, following a major crackdown that resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of narcotics and illegal firearms.

The operation is part of a broader, ongoing offensive against criminal elements across the city, initiated under special directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, to enhance the security of citizens” lives and property.

In one series of actions, teams from the Sangjani, Sabzi Mandi, Koral, Khanna, Humak, Lohi Bher, Shahzad Town, and Phulgran police stations detained 10 suspects. From their possession, officials confiscated 2,796 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ice), 530 grams of hashish, 45 bottles of liquor, and four pistols complete with ammunition.

Formal cases have been lodged against the apprehended individuals, and further inquiries are underway, according to a police statement.

In a parallel effort targeting fugitives, a special campaign successfully led to the capture of six wanted persons, identified as proclaimed offenders and court absconders.

SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, affirmed the force’s commitment to safeguarding the residents of the federal capital. He stated that no one would be permitted to disturb the city’s peace and that the protection of citizens remains the foremost priority for the Islamabad Police.

The SSP also urged the public to contribute to these security efforts by promptly reporting any suspicious activities to their local police station or the “Pucar-15” emergency helpline. He emphasised that mutual cooperation between law enforcement and the community is essential to making the city crime-free.
