Citizens’ campaign for Taluka Hospital restoration completes 2 months

Protest leaders have warned that if authorities do not address the serious shortcomings of the Taluka Hospital, a shutter-down strike and intensified demonstrations could be potential actions, as the citizens’ campaign for the hospital’s restoration completes two months.

Organized by the Vigilant Citizens Alliance, the movement entered its 62nd day today with a protest march in the village of Mian Dad Chanjni. Numerous village residents, social activists, and politically conscious individuals participated in large numbers, expressing their full solidarity with the cause.

Addressing the gathering, leaders including Senior Vice President Sufi Ghaffar Channo, Comrade Asif Kathia, Ikhtiar Ghanwas, and Izhar Wahuchi described the severe difficulties faced by the local population. They emphasized that the hospital’s incomplete construction, shortage of doctors, and unavailability of medicines are affecting hundreds of thousands of people in the region.

The speakers declared that the medical facility has become “a place of torment instead of a place of healing,” where patients are left to suffer without proper care. They stressed the urgent need for the provision of adequate treatment facilities to serve the community.

In their address, the leaders issued a stern ultimatum, stating that while their movement is peaceful, they will not compromise on the fundamental rights of the public. They warned that if the responsible authorities do not promptly resolve the hospital’s issues, more severe protests, including a widespread strike, will be initiated.
