Under ‘Safe Punjab Vision’, abuse and violence against women and children is our red line: Punjab Police

Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has announced that violence and abuse targeting women and children is a “red line” for the force, and under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s “Safe Punjab Vision,” the prompt resolution of such cases has been declared a top priority.

The provincial police chief presided over a key conference to deliberate on the action plan for achieving police-related targets set by the Chief Minister on Saturday for the year 2026.

During the meeting, Regional and District Police Officers (RPOs and DPOs) gave a briefing on the new year’s goals, which include comprehensive crime control, drug eradication measures, infrastructure development, and the welfare of police personnel.

Dr. Anwar directed senior officers to intensify operations to prevent crime and combat the drug trade across the province.

A zero-tolerance policy on kite flying was also announced, with the Inspector General stating that it is “absolutely not tolerable anywhere in the province” and ordered strict legal action against violators.

Furthermore, the meeting also reviewed the action plan to enhance coordination between the Traffic Police and the Punjab Highway Patrol to improve road management.

The Inspector General stressed the importance of internal morale, and directed that the welfare and promotions of police personnel be prioritized to improve overall law and order, security, and public service delivery.
