Crackdown on illegal parking at Islamabad’s weekly bazaars ordered

Motorists face fines and other legal repercussions for parking outside designated areas around the capital’s weekly bazaars, as authorities has implemented stringent measures to combat severe traffic congestion.

The initiative, introduced under special directives from Chief Traffic Police Officer (CTO) Capt (retd) Hamzah Humayun, aims to ensure an organised traffic system and alleviate difficulties for citizens visiting the popular markets.

To enforce the new strategy, senior officials have been conducting on-site assessments of traffic patterns and briefing deployed personnel. Traffic police have been stationed at all entry and exit points, parking facilities, and other critical locations to prevent obstructions.

The supervising officers have instructed the deployed staff to perform their duties diligently and have cautioned against any negligence in maintaining order.

CTO Humayun issued an appeal to the public, urging them to cooperate by using only the specified parking zones to prevent disruption to traffic flow. He confirmed that violations would result in legal action.

He further remarked that the Islamabad Traffic Police remains vigilant in ensuring public convenience and discipline, encouraging residents to adhere to traffic regulations to prove themselves as civilised members of society.

The CTO added that safeguarding the life and property of the populace while maintaining unimpeded traffic movement in the federal capital are among the foremost priorities of the Islamabad Police.
