Security measures tightened at churches for Christian congregations across Punjab

Law enforcement agencies in Punjab have been put on high alert to protect Christian worship services, with orders issued for a widespread increase in security for churches across the province, including the provincial capital.

In a directive issued on Sunday by Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar, Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) have been instructed to immediately enhance security protocols at all Christian places of worship.

Officers and personnel deployed for the security of churches have been directed to remain extremely vigilant and to keep an eye on any suspicious individuals or potential miscreants.

Furthermore, authorities have been ordered to continue comprehensive search and sweep operations in the vicinity of churches, Christian residential areas, and other designated sensitive locations.

In a parallel effort to promote peace, IG Dr. Usman Anwar has also appealed to religious scholars, leaders of the Christian community, and members of local peace committees to actively promote interfaith harmony.
