85% of Peshawar Safe City Project complete, over 140 cameras activated

The completion of a major security project in Peshawar has entered its final stages, with over 140 live surveillance cameras activated under the city’s comprehensive “Safe City Project.” A significant phase in the implementation of this plan to modernize urban surveillance has been completed.

According to reports released today on the progress of the infrastructure, 85% of the civil work required for the project has been completed. Alongside this, the installation of surveillance poles has reached 78% completion, establishing the foundational structure for the extensive camera network.

The core of this project’s digital infrastructure is an 82-kilometer-long fiber optic network laid throughout the city. This high-speed cabling provides the necessary connectivity for real-time data transmission from the surveillance system.

The scope of this technical project extends beyond the provincial capital. The system is also being linked with D.I. Khan, Bannu, and Lakki Marwat, incorporating these districts into a modern and interconnected security system.

According to official sources, the project is being executed under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, led by Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, and aligns with the broader vision of modernizing security attributed to Imran Khan.
