An officer couple from the Social Welfare Department in Sukkur has been immediately suspended on serious charges of widespread corruption, financial irregularities, and misuse of authority.
The Sindh government has initiated a formal inquiry against the Grade-18 officers, identified as the Deputy Director of Social Welfare and his wife, also a Deputy Director.
The notification outlines a list of serious allegations against the couple, including embezzlement of government funds, misuse of DDO powers, and running non-functional welfare institutions. Other charges include unauthorized use of government finances, bribery, leaving staff on visas, and a general failure to perform their official duties.
According to officials, during the suspension period, both will remain attached to the Social Welfare Department headquarters in Sindh and will be prohibited from leaving the headquarters without the explicit permission of the competent authority.
The Additional Secretary of Social Welfare has been appointed as the inquiry officer to lead a comprehensive investigation into the allegations. He has been directed to collect evidence and submit a report with final recommendations to the authorities within one week.
The appointed investigator has been authorized to summon all relevant records and documents related to the case. The official order for the suspension and inquiry was issued under the signature of the Secretary of Social Welfare, Agha Sohail Ahmed.
