Protest over non-arrest of suspects in Nasirabad school theft, main highway blocked

Traffic on the Indus Highway was suspended on Tuesday following a sit-in by a citizens’ group over the police’s failure to solve a fifteen-day-old theft at Nasirabad Primary School, causing severe hardship to commuters.

The demonstration, organized by the Citizens’ Alliance, was attended by a large number of teachers, students, and leaders of various social and political organizations.

Speaking to the media, protest leaders Comrade Singhar Noonari, Abdul Wahab Brohi, and Bakhsh Ali Maghiri said that fifteen days have passed since the theft at the Government Main Primary School, but no arrests have been made.

They said that despite being given repeated deadlines, the Nasirabad police appear helpless against the culprits and have failed to make any significant progress in the investigation.

The organizers have vowed that the sit-in will continue indefinitely until the recovery of the stolen items from the educational institution.
