China Targets Pakistan’s Strategic Copper and Mineral Reserves

A high-level Chinese delegation has signalled significant interest in developing Pakistan’s mineral wealth, particularly focusing on copper and other strategic natural resources, following a key meeting with government officials here.

The visiting group, led by Deng Yubin, the Head of the Belt and Road Initiative for Yunnan Province, conveyed their keenness on collaborating in the nation’s extractive sector during a discussion with the Minister for Board of Investment, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, according to a report today.

In the discussions, Minister Sheikh underscored Pakistan”s extensive potential across multiple domains, including agriculture, digitalisation, technology, and manufacturing.

The minister specifically emphasised that the development of the country’s geological assets is a priority sector for the government, inviting foreign collaboration and investment.
