Capital Authorities Destroy Confiscated Kites, Chemical Strings

Authorities said today that they have destroyed a quantity of confiscated kites and hazardous chemical strings as part of a continuing, large-scale operation against kite flying and selling across the district, an activity officials describe as a criminal offence posing a serious threat to human life.

The city-wide crackdown is being conducted following special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, who confirmed the materials seized from flyers and vendors during the current month had been disposed of.

The IGP urged parents to educate their children about the perils of kite flying and the associated legal repercussions. He also appealed to the public to fulfil their social and legal duties by helping to prevent the practice.

IGP Rizvi stated that kite flying is a dangerous activity that can lead to permanent disability or even death. He emphasised that the police force will maintain its strict action against both the flying and selling of kites, which is being dealt with firmly.

The Islamabad Police are consistently pursuing legal action against this deadly activity, highlighting that metallic strings present a grave risk to citizens.

Officials affirmed that the loss of innocent lives from this lethal practice will not be tolerated, adding that ensuring the safety of residents’ lives and property remains the paramount priority for the police service.
