At least 31 people were killed and another 169 injured in a powerful explosion in Islamabad on Friday.
According to Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, in the immediate aftermath, authorities declared a state of emergency across the city’s major medical centres, including PIMS, Polyclinic, and CDA Hospitals, according to a statement from the Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad.
Assistant Commissioners have been tasked with overseeing the treatment of the wounded at various facilities to manage the large number of casualties.
Security personnel have cordoned off and completely sealed the site of the blast to facilitate investigation and evidence collection.
The nation”s top leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, vehemently condemned the attack. In separate statements, both leaders expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of human life.
Both the president and the prime minister have instructed officials to ensure the injured receive the highest standard of medical care.
Following the incident, Prime Minister Sharif held a meeting with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, ordering a prompt and comprehensive investigation into the explosion.
The prime minister asserted that the perpetrators responsible for the explosion must be identified and brought to justice. He further affirmed that the government would not permit any entity to sow chaos or unrest within the country.
