Police on Saturday confirmed the arrest of all nine individuals nominated in the murder case of Advocate Chaudhry Shehzad. The arrests followed a comprehensive investigation into the fatal shooting incident, which allegedly stemmed from a land dispute. The final three main accused were recently apprehended, and the weapon allegedly used in the crime has also been taken into custody by law enforcement.
The incident occurred several days ago in GR Colony, within the jurisdiction of the Satellite Town police station. Advocate Shehzad was allegedly tortured before being shot and killed. His employee, Ghulam Sabir, was also attacked during the altercation and sustained serious injuries.
A First Information Report (FIR) No. 154/2025 was registered on the complaint of Chaudhry Gohar-ur-Rehman. The case nominates nine accused, along with five to six other unidentified individuals, and includes charges under sections 302, 324, 447, 147, 148, 149, and 506(ii) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In response to the murder, SSP Mirpurkhas Dr. Sameer Noor Channa formed a special police team to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible. The team, comprising Inspector Inayat Ali Zardari, SHO Satellite Town Haq Nawaz Junejo, Inspector Ghulam Hussain Sudhayo, and Sub-Inspector Danish Bhatti, conducted raids at various locations.
As a result of the police operation, the three main accused, Inam Lashari, Afzal Lashari, and Umar Lashari, were recently arrested. Following their arrest, investigators also recovered the murder weapon. Prior to these arrests, six other nominated individuals-Fateh Lashari, Abdus Salam Lashari, Misri Lashari, Imdad Lashari, Amir Lashari, and Ammar Lashari-had been taken into custody.
With all nine nominated accused now arrested, the investigation into other aspects of the case is ongoing. In a statement, District Bar Association Mirpurkhas President Afzal Wirk, along with other lawyer leaders, praised the police for their effective and timely action in the matter.
