Freight train derails, sabotage suspected, investigation begins

Railway authorities have launched an investigation today into the possibility of sabotage behind the derailment of a freight train near Mehrabpur.

The incident occurred near the Deparja railway crossing when ten to eleven bogies of a freight train heading from Karachi to Punjab derailed.

As a result of the derailment, both the up and down railway lines have been completely blocked, suspending all train services in the area. Consequently, other trains have been stopped at nearby stations, awaiting the restoration of the route.

According to railway sources, the accident caused five to six bogies to overturn, resulting in severe damage to the track. Reportedly, a seven to nine-foot section of the down track was broken during the incident.

Authorities estimate that removing the derailed bogies and restoring the track could take eight to ten hours. While restoration work has begun, the official investigation is focused on determining whether the incident was an accident or a deliberate act.
