Dozens Detained, Including Foreign Nationals, in Major City-Wide Security Sweep

Islamabad police on Tuesday claimed to have taken 72 individuals into custody, including seven foreign nationals found to be residing illegally, following extensive search and combing operations conducted by the Islamabad Police across various parts of the federal capital.

The large-scale security initiative, aimed at curbing crime and suppressing illicit activities, was carried out following special directives from the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

Supervised by SSP Operations Islamabad, Qazi Ali Raza, the crackdowns involved the detailed vetting of 472 individuals, 93 shops, and five hotels. Law enforcement personnel also inspected 137 motorcycles and 17 other vehicles during the city-wide sweeps.

In addition to the 65 suspicious persons and seven undocumented foreign nationals, 21 motorcycles were also moved to police stations for further legal proceedings.

SSP Operations Islamabad stated that the purpose of these security measures is to tighten the noose around criminal elements and enhance safety across the city. He confirmed that such operations are being conducted in various areas throughout the district.

The police force affirmed its commitment to taking indiscriminate action against criminal elements, including land-grabbing mafias and drug peddlers.

Officials have requested citizens to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station or the emergency helpline ‘Pucar-15.’
