A disgruntled subordinate constable, angered over being assigned a duty, opened fire and critically injured a Station House Officer (SHO), who is now battling for his life. The constable, identified as Abdullah, has been taken into custody.
The incident occurred on Tuesday when SHO Sub-Inspector Tariq ordered Constable Abdullah to perform guard duty at a checkpoint. According to the initial investigation and the First Information Report (FIR), the subordinate officer became disheartened by this directive and began harboring a grudge against his superior.
According to officials, it was a premeditated act in which Constable Abdullah allegedly fired three shots from his rifle at the SHO with the intent to kill. The senior officer was severely injured as a result of the attack.
The injured SHO was first moved to DHQ Hospital, but due to the seriousness of his condition, he was referred to a specialized hospital in Sahiwal for immediate medical treatment. According to doctors, his condition is extremely critical.
Police have registered a case against the accused constable under Section 324 (attempted murder) of the penal code. The arrested officer is in custody, and further investigation into the matter is underway.
