International Drug Ring Disrupted in $66 Million Hashish Bust

Pakistan’s Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) has dealt a significant blow to an international drug trafficking organisation, confiscating 1,200 kilograms of hashish valued at over USD 66.15 million and arresting two individuals in a major intelligence-led operation, the agency announced on Wednesday.

Acting on specific intelligence, ANF personnel intercepted a suspected truck on the Panjgur-Turbat National Highway (M-8). A thorough inspection of the vehicle revealed the massive consignment of high-quality hashish concealed within secret cavities. The two suspects aboard the truck were taken into custody on the spot.

An ANF spokesperson stated the force had been monitoring the international drug trafficking organisation (DTO), believed to be operating under the patronage of notorious trafficker Ishaq Baloch. The network is allegedly involved in transporting narcotics from Panjgur to Turbat before moving them to coastal areas like Gwadar and Pasni.

From the coastline, the illicit substances were intended for smuggling abroad via sea routes. The detained suspects disclosed during initial interrogation that the drugs originated in Afghanistan and were planned for export to the Gulf countries, Yemen, and Tanzania using high-speed fishing boats.

A case has been registered against the arrested men under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act. According to the agency, legal proceedings have been initiated to track down and apprehend the main supplier and other members of the smuggling ring.

The spokesperson reaffirmed the ANF”s unwavering commitment to combating the narcotics menace at both national and international levels, despite facing limitations in resources and manpower. This recent operation is highlighted as a reflection of the force”s strong resolve.
