Crackdown in Quetta, 25 shopkeepers detained for using banned plastic bags, 5 shops sealed

In a sweeping operation against illegal commercial activities, the district administration has arrested 25 shopkeepers, of whom 15 were later sent to jail, and sealed five business premises across the city.

The operation, conducted on Wednesday, which included the inspection of 117 shops, was aimed at curbing profiteering and the use of banned plastic bags by local shopkeepers.

Administrative teams conducted price control checks in Sub-Division Saryab, Sub-Division Saddar, and Sub-Division City. The inspections focused on butchers selling expensive meat, as well as tandoors and general stores.

Further action was taken specifically against milk shops and tandoors for the use of banned polythene bags.

During the raids across the city, authorities seized 70 kilograms of plastic bags.

Special Magistrate Izzatullah, Special Magistrate Ejaz Hussain Khosa, and Special Magistrate Haseeb Sardar participated in these operations.

The district administration reiterated its commitment that similar actions against profiteers will continue in the future to ensure compliance with trade regulations.
