A 65-year-old man riding in a rickshaw died after being crushed under an overloaded sugarcane tractor-trolley that overturned on Misri Ji Wah Link Road today.
The deceased was identified as Sarai Allah Dino Jokhiyo. The fatal incident occurred within the limits of the Darya Khan Mari police station.
Miraculously, the auto-rickshaw driver, Ijaz Shah, and several female passengers managed to emerge alive from the wreckage. Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the three-wheeled vehicle was completely destroyed by the weight of the overturned load.
Authorities confirmed that the driver of the agricultural vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police have taken the tractor-trolley into custody as part of the investigation.
After completing the necessary medico-legal formalities, the body was handed over to the heirs.
