An alleged Al-Qaeda operative was arrested in Lahore during a major crackdown across the province last month, in which the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) took a total of twenty-six suspected terrorists into custody from across Punjab.
According to a statement issued by a CTD spokesperson on Sunday, these arrests were made as a result of two hundred and eighty-six intelligence-based operations conducted during the last month.
The spokesperson, providing details, stated that these security operations were conducted in multiple cities, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Narowal, Pakpattan, and Sargodha.
In a notable operation in Sargodha, authorities arrested four alleged individuals belonging to the Fitna-tul-Khawarij group.
A large cache including explosives, detonators, safety fuse wiring, and various documentary materials was recovered from the possession of the suspects.
