The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) today announced the schedule to launch the President’s Trophy and Quaid-e-Azam Trophy with a new format, starting on September 12 and November 1, respectively. These competitions will showcase a new structure aimed at enhancing the interest and competitiveness of domestic cricket.
The President’s Trophy will consist of two divisions: Grade One First Class and Grade Two Gold and Silver. The Gold Division will include eight teams, while the Silver Division will consist of twelve teams, increasing the total number of participating teams from 18 to 20, spread across 16 regions.
The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy will follow a similar format, with both the Gold and Silver Divisions recognized as first-class competitions. An exciting feature of the new structure is the introduction of promotion and relegation, adding a new dimension to the intensity of the competition as teams fight for top spots to avoid relegation.
In a notable development, both Sialkot and Peshawar are set to field two teams each, reflecting PCB’s commitment to providing more opportunities to players from these regions.
